Disappearance of Sky Metalwala

[edit]
  • ... that police investigating the disappearance of Sky Metalwala five years ago today noticed his mother's account of how it happened was "strikingly similar" to an episode of Law & Order: SVU broadcast the night before? Source: "In a twist, he notes that a recent Law & Order: SVU episode that aired locally the night before Sky’s disappearance was found to be 'strikingly similar' to Biryukova's claims. The episode involved a mother who covers up her child’s death by claiming it was abducted from a parked car. " Lee, Ken (November 11, 2011). "Did a Mom Take Her Missing Child Story from Law & Order?". People. Retrieved October 29, 2016.
    • ALT1:... that although Sky Metalwala's mother admitted she had left him alone for an hour in the parked car he disappeared from five years ago today, police made a "strategic decision" not to charge her with child endangerment? Source: "Police, however, declined to label Biryukova a suspect or even a person of interest. They also made what they described as a 'strategic decision' not to seek to have her charged with child endangerment for leaving the boy alone in the car." Clarridge, Christine (November 7, 2014). "Sky Metalwala's disappearance still an active investigation after 3 years". Seattle Times. Retrieved October 28, 2016.

  • Comment: Again, this is for an anniversary. I would like it to run November 6

  • Review underway. @Daniel Case: aside from what the DYKbot is doing, your QPQ review should explicitly confirm that the five main DYK criteria have been met. Thank you, Yoninah (talk) 23:52, 2 November 2016 (UTC)
    • New enough, long enough, neutrally written, well referenced, no close paraphrasing seen. I've made one note on the talk page about the juxtaposition of the mother's surname and the father's given name. ALT0 is very hooky; hook ref verified and cited inline. Waiting for QPQ to complete this nomination. Yoninah (talk) 00:23, 3 November 2016 (UTC)
@Yoninah:: I have responded at the talk page. Daniel Case (talk) 06:56, 3 November 2016 (UTC)
      • QPQ done. Good to go for November 6. Yoninah (talk) 13:21, 3 November 2016 (UTC)
        • Pinging Daniel Case and Yoninah: ALT0 may be very hooky, but it is also 216 characters, too long for DYK. Striking the hook; I hope a shorter one can be devised. BlueMoonset (talk) 14:47, 3 November 2016 (UTC)
OK: ALT2: "... that police investigating the disappearance of Sky Metalwala five years ago today noticed his mother's account of how it happened resembled an episode of Law & Order: SVU broadcast the night before?

I get about 197 characters for that. Daniel Case (talk) 17:27, 3 November 2016 (UTC)

@Yoninah: OK, this works. Daniel Case (talk) 19:37, 3 November 2016 (UTC)
  • Great. Since I just shortened your original hook, I'm approving ALT4. Yoninah (talk) 19:39, 3 November 2016 (UTC)
